Local Investment Fund
The Local Investment Fund (LIF) is reserved for businesses that are starting up or expanding within the territory of the City of Shawinigan. Businesses that are already established and have an expansion plan will be favoured.
The CLD can grant financial assistance of up to 50% of allowable project expenses, to a maximum of $50,000 per project. Financing granted to businesses must be repaid within a period of five years.
Eligible Individuals or Groups
In general, the LIF is geared towards any business operating in the following sectors: manufacturing, tourism, major service industries, new technologies, and social economy.
The following sectors, however, will be favoured:
Value-added sectors
Businesses contributing to industrial diversification
Businesses starting up in the new economy
Exporting businesses
Project Selection Criteria or Financial Support Requests

Projects must be economically viable and must not be part of highly competitive sectors.
