Business Profile of Shawinigan

Shawinigan is currently focusing its energy on revitalizing its downtown area. The redevelopment of Place du Marché (Market Square) is one of the areas being tackled. This 2.7 million dollar project, the aim of which is to create a more vibrant and dynamic market square, will allow downtown merchants to maximize their visibility and enhance their business potential.

Downtown

Although the downtown area has several goods and services businesses, it mainly consists of office buildings. Workers can enjoy all the benefits provided by such facilities as well as delight in the many restaurants and parks that reflect the quality of life in Shawinigan. With the Saint-Maurice River as a backdrop, this is without a doubt one of the most beautiful panoramas the city has to offer.

The business districts of Grand-Mère and Shawinigan-Sud, too, also rely on a highly loyal and regular clientele, a clientele for whom buying local has become increasingly important and a way of life.

Carré Trudel (Trudel Square), located only three minutes from downtown Shawinigan, will soon welcome new businesses on its vast grounds. The area is already well-patronized due to major businesses such as St-Hubert, Wal-Mart, Rona l’Entrepôt, Canadian Tire and IGA, all located nearby.

The business district has the capacity to accommodate 40 new businesses. Its proximity to highway 55 (autoroute de l'Énergie) is another factor weighing in favour of its development.
